If a slice of bacon is roughly 1/16th of an inch and there are 63,360 inches in a mile (thanks WolframAlpha), then it would take 1,013,760 slices of bacon in order for Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s Mile High Bacon Cheese Thickburger to truly reach a mile high in bacon.
Of course, the new burger has a fraction of a fraction of that.
The bacon Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s is using is their premium, thick-cut Applewood-smoked bacon and it sits on top of a charbroiled, 100 percent Black Angus beef patty, American cheese, red onions, tomato, lettuce, and mayonnaise. The burger is available with a 1/3- or 1/2-lb. patty, is served on a Fresh Baked Bun, and starts at $5.59.
A Mile High Bacon Cheese Thickburger with a 1/4 lb. patty has 780 calories, 55 grams of fat, 17 grams of saturated fat, 125 milligrams of cholesterol, 1700 milligrams of sodium, 34 grams of carbohydrates, 3 grams of fiber, 8 grams of sugar, and 35 grams of protein.

It’s just like the one they did for the superman movie tie-in and the x-men movie tie-in. Good but nothing new.
No, it isn’t the same. All the previous Carl’s Jr bacon burgers simply had more slices of their standard flavorless, thin bacon. Carl’s has never had really good bacon IMHO, despite all the bacon-related specials they’ve had over the years, but now that Wendy’s, Burger King, and even McDonald’s have thick-cut, applewood smoked bacon, Carl’s has FINALLY stepped up to high quality bacon for this burger (probably as a test). Having just had it for lunch today, IMO it is a vast improvement over the floppy, flavorless bacon they usually have. It was very tasty, and it was chopped bacon chunks rather than strips. You get a good amount, though not a “mile high”. I really hope Carl’s Jr sticks with this higher quality bacon and uses it for every sandwich (including their Western Bacon Cheeseburger), the difference in taste is huge, and I give the sandwich 5 stars. (Note: I had the regular hamburger patty, not the thickburger. That put more emphasis on the bacon rather than the burger patty).
I felt it was crap. I don’t expect anything to look like it does on tv….but this was bad. Honestly there was no more bacon than on many other bacon burgers i’ve had. I was VERY disappointed….especially considering the price point.
I too was disappointed 2 strips of Bacon was lame. And is way over Priced!
If you want to know how much bacon is on this burger: Look at the picture of the burger in the advertisement. Look at how much bacon you can see – not how much you THINK is under the bun, but just the amount you can actually SEE. If you are lucky, that’s how much is on the whole burger.
I will say, it WAS “piled high” – a small pile in the middle of the burger, since it wasn’t whole strips, but kinda like big bacon bits.
Well, when I saw the pic’ of Carl Jr’s “MILE HIGH” Bacon Burger.. I couldn’t wait to try it ! It tasted ok, but had no bacon visible from the outside, under the bun I found itty bitty pieces of microwaved bacon bits. and the buns– charred absolutely black 100%. So when I asked “WHERE”S THE BACON” ?? I was told they don’t put strips of bacon on, and it isn’t grilled either.. DO I sense FALSE ADVERTISING ? Complete!!
The ad with the woman passing a burger across the Aisle of the Plane with the Buns Vertical, and Not a Single piece of Bacon Falls Off… Yea, only if they were Strips !! Not the Crumbles that are Actually On the Burger.
Thick Cut/Mile High/Piled to The Sky…. Not A Word True..
And don’t think you’ll go to a differant Carl Jr’s and get a Burger with Bacon Piled to The SKy, I was informed by 2 locations that ” That’s How we Make it”.
Blatant False Advertising– thru and thru on this Bacon Blunder.
A shame, cause they make good burgers otherwise. Why so thoroughly disappoint their Patrons, and perhaps lose All Their Business for lack of a few strips of bacon.. Carl Jr’s– Deliver your Product as Shown– This Country Loves Their BACON– Don’t fool with it !!
It was WONDERFUL!
Ridiculous price for what you get. No bacon visable. Seeded bun. The thickburger with bacon was better than this. Was going to eat 4 times a week. Not anymore.
This burger is total BS. Barely 1 slice of chopped up burger, couldn’t see any bacon with the bun on top. Picked up the bun and about 10, 1/2″ pieces of under cooked bacon in the middle of the patty. I thought that it might be that way cause I went thru the drive thru. I went in and complained and they told me it was a pretty weighed amount of bacon but they understood my displeasure and gladly put a second helping of bacon on my sandwich and it still looked minimal compared to the advertised pic. My opinon is the western bacon cheese burger has way more bacon on it and way better bang for your buck.
I got one of these burgers at a truck stop it had maybe 2 pieces of bacon that was chopped up. The girls behind the counter told me that it comes portioned that way. I generally get the monster thick burger. This 1/2 lb burger cost me 6.99 before tax 7.55 after tax . I’ve been to full service restaurants that didn’t charge that much for a bacon cheese burger.
