Here are some interesting new and limited edition products found on store shelves by us and your fellow readers.
I want to find EVERY South Beach Diet Good to Go Bars with extra fiber box and change the front of the box to say, “Got to Go Bars” (Spotted by Adam at Weis.)
I’m probably wrong about this, but I’m going to guess the old name of this ice cream was either Coconut Cookie Caramel or Vanilla Ice Cream with Stuff In It. (Spotted by Linda at Safeway.)
Wow. Until I saw this photo, it never occurred to me that caramel might taste good with pineapple. Maybe I should stop avoiding the pineapples at the farmer’s market, get me some caramel, and try it out. Or skip the pain of cutting up a pineapple and just eat the caramel. (Spotted by Linda at Safeway.)
Grape-flavored apples and a bubblegum-flavored apples aren’t crazy. What would be crazy is an apple that didn’t have any seeds or stem because it was created in a laboratory by mad scientists who wanted to make their own food incase there’s a nuclear war that makes the ground unfit for vegetation. (Spotted by Angel at Publix.)
Thank you to all the photo contributors! If you’re out shopping and see an interesting new or limited edition product on the shelf (or really unusual), snap a picture of it, and send us an email (theimpulsivebuy@gmail.com) with where you found it and “Spotted” in the subject line. If you do so, you might see your picture in our next Spotted on Shelves post.
The crazy apples is not a good product gimmick. I read a review that it tasted like normal apple with hint of flavoring. Said it was a waste of money it was artifical flavoring. I prefer my apples natural and if I want add flavor I could add caramel
They tasted like normal apples with a hint of flavoring? Really? Isn’t that what they are supposed to taste like.
I actually suspect the old name for that ice cream was Girl Scout Samoa cookie flavor and they lost the rights.
Bingo, Emma’s got it. They have the thin mint flavor too – just can’t use the girl scout trademark anymore for some reason.
It possibility was a limited time partnership and the Girl Scouts partnership expired. People might liked the flavor so Edy’s had to change its name to continue to produce flavors without using Girl Scouts
You’re right they ended their partnership with the Girl Scouts this year. We found out over at On Second Scoop that it was Breyers who now has the partnership with the Girl Scouts and will be producing the thin mints and samoas flavors under their Blasts! line http://www.onsecondscoop.com/2013/01/2013-new-frozen-product-guide.html
Breyers has picked up the Girl Scout trademark:

Caramel and pineapple does sound good. Though the other flavor of Chobani bites, coffee and chocolate is the most disgusting thing I’ve ever tasted.
What!!! Bubblegum flavored apples???? I never thought it would come to this.
Looks like more junk to me:
-South Beach Good to Go….to the toilet bars. They ought to just go ahead and shrink wrap a roll of toilet paper to EVERY South Beach product.
-Dreyers slow churned stomach ice cream. Can they possibly come up with more pointless flavor combinations? How about pickled egg and durian ice cream. That sounds popular in Japan.
-flavored CRAPples?? Stupid. If a kid won’t eat a regular one without throwing a tantrum, how about asking him if would rather balance it on his head while I take potshots at it with a bow and arrow??
Chobani is pretty good.
