These aren’t available in stores yet, but they’ll be hitting shelves soon. Also, I learned Mars sold Mega M&M’s eight years ago, which were discontinued. Sooo…welcome back, Mega M&M’s. May you stick around on shelves longer this time. (Spotted by Kassie.)
If you’re out shopping and see an interesting new or limited edition product on the shelf, snap a picture of it, and send us an email ([email protected]) with where you found it and “Spotted” in the subject line. If you do so, you might see your picture in our next Spotted on Shelves post.
I like these better than regular M&Ms as you can taste more of the chocolate – I’ve always much preferred Mars chocolate over Nestle and Hershey. Before M&M’s were launched in the UK Mars had the ‘Minstrels’ brand which are pretty much what we have here, although less colorful! They have since been re-branded ‘Galaxy Minstrels’, ‘Galaxy’ being what ‘Dove’ is called over there. M&Ms came rather late to the UK as there was already a very well established and popular brand of chocolate beans around – Rowntree/Nestle’s Smarties (not to be confused with US Smarties). Smarties predate M&Ms by 4 years (1937 vs 1941). However Mars has shown in the UK and in Canada that there is definitely room for two major brands of chocolate beans and they are somewhat different in texture and taste.
where did you find those giant m&ms???
