SPOTTED ON SHELVES – 12/20/2013

Here are some interesting new and limited edition products found on store shelves by us and your fellow readers. If you’ve tried any of the products, share your thoughts about them in the comments.

Limited Edition Turkey Hill Key Lime Pie Premium Ice Cream

Maybe it’s just me but key lime pie seems like a summer flavor. Now some of you might be thinking that maybe this has been available since summer. Well, according to Turkey Hill, it was a November release. (Spotted by Stefanie at Giant.)

Kellogg's Frosted Mini Wheats Touch of Fruit in the Middle Raisin Cereal

Do you miss Kellogg’s Raisin Squares? Well, think of Kellogg’s Frosted Mini Wheats Touch of Fruit in the Middle Raisin Cereal as Kellogg’s Frosted Raisin Squares. (Spotted by Victor at Safeway.)

Kellogg's Special K Special Edition Chocolate Almond Cereal

Kellogg’s Special Edition Special K Chocolate Almond Cereal is definitely more interesting than Special K’s last limited edition cereal. Also, this time they used “chocolate” in its name and not “chocolatey.” Oh, this cereal might be good. (Spotted by Victor at Safeway.)

MorningStar Farms Pizza (Baja Black Bean and Mediterranean Chickpea)

With all the fake meat MorningStar Farms produces, I’m surprised there aren’t any on these personal-sized pizzas. (Spotted by Marvo at Safeway.)

Thank you to all the photo contributors! 1. Aw, man! I got excited when I read ‘new Kellogg’s cereals’ and saw the ice cream photo. My sleep-addled brain anticipated a Kellogg’s x Turkey hill collaboration. Perhaps next winter? We can only hope…

  2. wait, there isn’t fake meat on those pizzas?? what in the what?? i posted a comment on their site, i think it was yesterday?, when they announced this. i assumed the black bean one used their black bean burger and the chickpea one used their chickpea burger. since i am only okay with the black bean burger and hate their chickpea one, i suggested they do one with the chicken strips, like a pesto chicken deal. now that i know it doesn’t have their crappy burger i am almost tempted to try one, even though that really makes no sense.

    1. Even better- neither of them have egg white so I could eat them without planning a nap (eggs put me to sleep, but Morningstar Farms puts egg white in practically everything- they even added some recently to stuff I used to be able to eat ). The chickpea one isn’t awash in a lot of dairy products (other than cheese) like the black bean one (which probably has too much non-cheese dairy for me). Both are high fiber (8 or 6 grams) and high protein (16 grams for the chickpea, at about 380 calories). Here’s hoping they show up in my local.

  3. I’ve tried the Special K chocolate almond, OMG it’s not too sweet like the coco pebbles, and it’s just the right amount of coco and almonds. Love it
