SPOTTED ON SHELVES – 4/10/2014

Here are some interesting new and limited edition products found on store shelves by us and your fellow readers. If you’ve tried any of the products, share your thoughts about them in the comments.

Jack Link's Wild Side Sausages

This doesn’t seem right. I feel like I should buy a pack of these, cut them up, and then put them in a food dehydrator for a few days. (Spotted by Keith at Walmart.)

Guy Fieri Sausages

I knew Guy Fieri would touch sausages someday. (Spotted by Jeremy at Walmart.)

Oscar Mayer Mini Smokies

When I saw the packaging, I got super excited because I thought these were bacon wrapped mini smokies. However, they’re just regular mini smokies. Thanks for getting my hopes up, Oscar Mayer! My disappointment has a first name it’s O-S-C-A-R, and my disappointment has a second name it’s M-A-Y-E-R. (Spotted by Charmi at Walmart.)

Cascadian Farm Protein Chewy Bars

I learned Cascadian Farm is a General Mills company. I also learned Cascadian Farm is an actual farm, not like MorningStar Farm or Pepperidge Farm. (Spotted by Marvo at Target.)

Annie's Homegrown Chewy Cluten Free Granola Bars

Did you know Annie’s Homegrown makes a mac & cheese pizza? Oh, they also make these bar thingies, but who cares? They make a frickin’ mac & cheese pizza. (Spotted by Marvo at Target.)

  1. Mini OM smokies have been around for a long time, both the ‘hot dog’ and the ‘sausage’ types, so why is this new?

  2. Wait, Oscar Mayer is doing a knock-off of Hillshire Farms’ Lit’l Smokies?

Oh. They launched the Mini Smokies in December, having brought back their version of the Smokies links in May 2013.

I think I’m glad to be warned so I don’t accidentally buy small smokies that are not proper Lit’l Smokies.

  3. Those Guy Fieri sausages have been around for awhile, at least here in Southern California. The Tequila Lime ones are rather good. There is also(not pictured here) a Nacho Style flavor, mixed with cheddar cheese, jalapeno, and pinto beans, also really good!

  4. Don’t buy those Oscar Mayer mini smokies. They are gross (also pretty spicy which is not labeled). I actually complained to Oscar Mayer about them because they were so bad and they sent me a coupon for a free product.

  5. For some reason I always thought it was ‘Jack O’Links’ … the beef jerky is actually a really healthy snack – low fat, high protien.
