Popeyes has combined the classic Southern side dish, hushpuppies, with their Butterfly Shrimp to create their obviously-named Hushpuppy Butterfly Shrimp.
The seafood dish is made by marinating Popeyes’ Butterfly Shrimp in Louisiana seasonings, coating them in a light, sweet hushpuppy cornmeal crust, and then deep frying them.
You can get eight Hushpuppy Butterfly Shrimp, Cajun Fries, a buttermilk biscuit, and Popeyes’ new Cajun Cocktail Dipping Sauce for $4.99.
It’s available at participating restaurants until July 26.

Tried it today. Not impressed. Breading is thick and too hard, well beyond crunchy. Didn’t really taste like hushpuppies either, just tastes like breading without the spiciness or softness of good hushpuppies.
These are really good and actually taste like hush puppies! I wish they actually sold hush hush puppies as an individual item. I’ll be getting this again. My only con is, the shrimps are sooo small and the breading is sooo big :L
