I know the Jerry Seinfeld in you is going, “What the deal with the pickles?” Did the Vlasic stork accidentally drop some on the chicken? Is there a pickle surplus in the U.S.?
No and no, my friends. That’s how they’re supposed to be. Don’t believe me? Read this.
The chicken gets its spiciness from a blend of cayenne and smoked paprika. Along with the bone-in Nashville Hot Chicken, KFC is also offering boneless Nashville Hot Chicken Tenders, which are available as a three-piece meal with cole slaw and a biscuit.
If you’ve tried them, let us know what you think of them in the comments.

I got the tenders on Monday – no pickles. I have to say – they were amazingly hot. Normally fast food goes pedestrian on the heat – but not in this case. They were also super wet – which I wasn’t expecting – the website said they would be served in a special container for the dipping sauce – I didn’t think that meant they would be dipped in sauce. 5 stars for Kfc on this one.
I had one of the tenders. It was delicious. Greasy as heck thanks to the oily sauce, but it was mad crispy. It had a spiciness that blossomed in your mouth in bursts like tiny fireworks. And aside from the spicy taste, it bad a certain smokiness that I could only identify as the seasoning from a spicy barbeque potato chip.
Sadly, this chicken is all I’ve been able to think about since I had it. And I’ve yet to have real Nashville hot chicken so the real thing must be amazing if this was good.
I tried them Yesterday. To me, it taste like a some what less spicy, tad more smokier version of Chick Fil A’s Spicy Chicken. Decent, but not true authentic heat on it. You can sure taste the lard/shortening on them though…and that is authentic.
It was delicious. Delicious and messy. It had a nice crisp and at first bite tastes sweet and then afterwards you can feel the heat, which is not ridiculously spicy. I wish they separated the biscuit though in the container because the biscuit ended up being soaked in all that grease and sauce.
Same experience here. With this sort of thing most places get lazy with how they distribute the sauce on the wings/tenders. But the tenders I ordered were nicely slathered in sauce with some run off as well. The tenders didn’t lose much of their crispy texture. Didn’t find them to be too hot. And eating them with the pickle slices made for a nice spicy/sour taste. Makes me wish they gave more than just 3 slices of pickles.
Tenders were good, but I wish they had more of a kick. I paired them with a local IPA from Highland Park Brewery and the combination really hit my BJCP certified taste buds with a euphoric rush of flavor and enlightenment.
It made me wish I was eating hot chicken @ Hattie’s Bs. It was ok
Had the thigh and leg meal on Monday. I liked it a lot but wish it was spicier. I used the biscuit to soak up the spice-ladened oil at the bottom of the container. Yum!
They were really not good at all. Not spicy and no flavor. To add insult to injury, the biscuit was soaked in that disgusting sauce. What a waste.
Disgusting..Greasy as hell..not a sauce in my book just extra spicy grease….Yuck!!!!!
