So I’m guessing the Aussie Woolworth is different than the US Woolworth, which I don’t think exists anymore?
According to that font of all knowledge Wikipedia, the Australian Woolworths did take its name from the U.S. one but actually has no historical connection with it. Apparently the U.S. Woolworths dissolved into Footlocker after disbanding the other parts of the business. No more soda fountains, alas. There are still some Woolworths in other countries, though.
