It’s Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte season! And riding on the coattails of the popular beverage is the new Chile Mocha.
The beverage is made with espresso and steamed milk infused with a cocoa and cinnamon powder, topped with a dollop of whipped cream and finished with a sprinkle of Chile Mocha topping, consisting of ancho and cayenne chile pepper, cinnamon, paprika, sugar and a touch of sea salt. It’s also available as a Frappuccino or coffee-free as hot chocolate.
It’s available at participating stores in the U.S. and Canada.

I sampled it when I was working at starbucks (I recently left). I really love it. I think its a better drink then pumpkin spice, which is a little too sweet for me. This drink is plenty sweet, but the hint of spice is significant, giving you something else to focus on. The sprinkle that goes on top is quite spicy and has a touch of salt, which is very yummy!
Big fan of this drink. It essentially tastes like Mexican hot chocolate though, so just get some Abuelita mix
I am actually not a huge fan of this, I usually get the same drink every time I stop by Starbucks but the Chile Mocha was so intriguing that I had to try it. I was hoping the spices and warmness of the drink would give me a kick but I was so wrong. It tasted like Cinnamon Toast Crunch and the only way I detected any spice was from the little they sprinkled over my whip cream. Reading every one else’s comments make me think that it is in fact supposed to be sweet, so I guess I assumed wrong when I saw it on the menu (topped with a huge pepper on it). Overall I wouldn’t suggest ordering this unless you are a huge fan of cinnamon!
