Not even worth the Chicago name and it is not an accurate version of the sandwich.
It’s essentially the French Dip & Swiss combined with the Fire Roasted Philly. The peppers are tangy and have a slight kick of spice — a little too slight for my tastes — though the ratio of meat to peppers is a bit off, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing because of how much meat is packed in. Overall it’s pretty delish, not a true Chicago/style Italian Beef riff, but regardless a really satisfying sandwich overall. Arby’s does it again
Hold the phone now, is this the spiritual successor to Arby’s Italian Sub, which was discontinued in, like, 2004? I can barely find anything about it online, but it sounds EXACTLY like the sandwich my mouth remembers. It was the only thing I ever really liked from Arby’s.
Well, I guess it’s time for a trip, after so many years!
Just tried it – Good sandwich. Not exactly what I hoped for or expected. Could have used more Italian seasoning to compare to a true Chicago Italian beef (Al’s is the best).
Good, not great but certainly worth a try if you’re considering it. 7.8/10
