Update: We reviewed the chicken sandwich! Click here to read our review.
While most fast food chains stick with tried and true cheeses, like cheddar or American, Wendy’s has used asiago, blue cheese, Gouda, and now fresh mozzarella, which the chain is using in its new Fresh Mozzarella Chicken Sandwich and Salad.
The sandwich features a grilled chicken filet topped with fresh mozzarella cheese, balsamic diced tomatoes, spring mix, and creamy basil pesto on a toasted garlic brioche bun.
The salad is made up of a salad blend topped with fresh mozzarella cheese, sliced grilled chicken, grape tomatoes, garlic croutons, and creamy basil pesto. It’s available in full and half portions.
Wendy’s Fresh Mozzarella Chicken Sandwich and Salad are available for a limited time at participating locations.
If you’ve tried either one, let us know what you think of it in the comments.

Ooohh – i’m really excited for this!
Just had one. I LOVE it! 🙂
Was hoping for a return of the Ghost Pepper Fries as they usually roll them out around this time…
I knew something new be coming out all my Wendys coupons just expired last weekend lol. Can’t wait to try both! Yumm
It’s one of Wendy’s best sandwich concept….The Creamy Basil Pesto is so delicious!
I love this sandwich! I think I’m partially smitten because I disliked the new multigrain bun of the grilled chicken sandwich. I didn’t pick up on the garlic on the bun though.
I loved this sandwich the flavors were perfect it was so delicious. The flavors were really fresh and gets me thinking about summer. I love Wendy’s because they try new things. I really enjoyed their Gouda burger….
It’s really good. The balsamic marinade on the tomatoes is my favorite part. Not enough cheese on mine though, unfortunately
I loved this salad. Don’t take it off the menu.
Wendy’s paid commenters have come out of the woodwork.
I love the taste of basil, and the creamy pesto sauce is Delish. I tried the sandwich tonight and loved it. Can’t wait to try the salad.
The sandwich was good. Not my favorite, but good. I didn’t like the salad. The cheese in the salad lacked flavor and the pieces were too thick and numerous for something so bland. The chicken in the salad wasn’t as good as the chicken in their other salads, either, but that could have been the fault of the location I was at more than the recipe.
The mozzarella salad was a joke! For teeny, tiny pieces of cheese, really? If you’re going to call it a mozzarella salad put some cheese on it. Top that was some unripe regular tomatoes, not grape tomatoes as advertised and the salad was a true disappointment.
I agree with Joanne re: Mozz. Salad — tiny pieces of cheese!! At first, I thought they hadn’t put any on my salad at all, but then I sort of found them. Still, if you look at the advertising for this salad, the word “Mozzarella” is huge, and the picture puts those cheese pieces front and center. Soooo, yeah, I expected a LOT more cheese. Disappointment. Will have to try the sandwich, and maybe that will wow me a bit more.
Just bought the new salad. It was was all right but definitely was not a salad blend. It was iceburg lettuce and I did not have croutons.By feeling it
The mozzarella chicken sandwich was awesome. Loved it. I could get hooked
Love them both. They need to make them regular menu items. Tried to get one on June 4th and it was already discontinued!
My husband & I just stopped in & I tried the mozzarella sandwich. I usually get a burger but I saw this on the website before we headed over & just had to try it. It’s one of the best chicken sandwiches I’ve ever had from Wendy’s. I really like that they branched out with something different with grilled chicken. I love this sandwich so much that while I was eating it I was already imagining how to duplicate it at home. I cook every day & love trying to emulate recipes I enjoy from restaurants.
If you like grilled chicken, balsamic tomatoes, slabs of mozzarella cheese, & pesto, you will love this sandwich. I was truly impressed, enough to look to the Internet to see what others thought. I’m only writing this review in hopes it will encourage others to try the sandwich, with further hopes that the number of sales will encourage Wendy’s to keep this one on the menu or at least in their regular rotation.
