If there’s one thing that’s been consistent with all the flavors KFC has released over the past few years, it’s the pickles.
Nashville Hot…topped with pickles.
Smoky Mountain BBQ…yup, pickles.
However, with those three, the pickles weren’t the focus. But now the brined vegetable gets to be the headliner with KFC’s new Pickle Fried Chicken.
The main component of the dish is a sauce that’s made with dill, vinegar, onion, garlic, buttermilk, and white and black pepper. Patrons can get it with the chain’s Extra Crispy Chicken or with the Crispy Colonel Sandwich. And, of course, it comes with pickles.
KFC’s Pickle Fried Chicken is available for a very limited time. How limited? According to the chicken chain, each restaurant will receive enough ingredients to make the menu item for just a few weeks.

I had it for lunch today in the 3-piece tenders option. They feature the same sauce consistency as the Nashville Hot, Georgia Gold and Smokey Mountain… very oily. You can smell the vinegary, briny smell as soon as you open the packaging. The pieces of dill in the sauce are visible, too. Overall, it tastes fantastic! I’m a hardcore fan of pickles and I was not disappointed. I hope it stays around like the other specialty-sauced items.
