Some of Dairy Queen’s oldest and most recognizable treats are its soft serve cones with the signature curl at the top. The standard varieties are the classic cone and the chocolate dipped cone. A quick Google searching bring up other dipped cones, like cherry and caramel.
According to this photo Impulsive Buy reader Mary sent that was taken at her local DQ as they were unpacking new signage, the dessert chain is set to launch another dipped cone flavor — Dreamsicle.
It appears to be rolling out nationwide since it’s mentioned as an option in DQ’s press release for its Free Cone Day, which is on Wednesday, March 20.
If you’ve tried it or seen it, let us know in the comments.
I tried it. I liked it. But it wasn’t as polished as the other flavors and has some serious technical problems.
Mine had shell flavoring dripping down the side, and that liquid portion was gritty for some reason. On the actual ice cream itself, the shell was super thin. The flavor was nice and refreshing, and wasn’t gritty on the ice cream itself, but it was just SO thin, and the ice cream had taken so long to prepare that it melted much faster than normal.
When I saw it being made for someone else, I literally saw the guy dip the cone into the coating and then have to come back to dip the same cone 2 or 3 more times after going back into the kitchen to do other work. Still looked super pale and thin.
We have winter weather here too. Unless the formula was thinned, the shell shouldn’t have had any problems setting up, and the only reason for that cone to melt is either heat from being dragged into the kitchen or a long wait time.
Recommendation: Would still eat. Wouldn’t pay anywhere near full price, but it is very tasty. I hope they fix it.
I miss when they had the butterscotch dip and dilly bars, back in the 80s.
They still make butterscotch Dilly bars!!
I thought it was delicious! I would definitely have it again!
I tried it the afternoon. Was very good and tasty. I experienced none of the issues Eden mentioned. Not gritty or thin, very well made cone. Get you one!!
Good not great..needed a stronger orange flavor!
