McDonald’s is now offering two new chicken menu items with a kick — Spicy BBQ Glazed Tenders and the Spicy BBQ Chicken Sandwich.
The sandwich features a crispy buttermilk chicken fillet made with all white meat chicken topped with slivered onions, pickles, and a smoky barbecue sauce on a sesame seed bun. It has 530 calories, 19 grams of fat, 3.5 grams of saturated fat, 0 gram of trans fat, 50 milligrams of cholesterol, 1260 milligrams of sodium, 64 grams of carbohydrates, 3 grams of fiber, 13 grams of sugar, and 26 grams of protein.
The Spicy BBQ Glazed Tenders are breaded all white meat chicken strips hand-tossed in a smoky barbecue sauce. A 4-piece order of the tenders has 580 calories, 27 grams of fat, 4.5 grams of saturated fat, 0 gram of trans fat, 105 milligrams of cholesterol, 1950 milligrams of sodium, 44 grams of carbohydrates, 0 grams of fiber, 15 grams of sugar, and 41 grams of protein.

The sandwich feels like a rip off compared to Popeyes. But also, you can’t get a Popeyes sandwich right now, so maybe it’s the premium you pay for no wait.
I tried it yesterday and it’s fine. You better like BBQ sauce if you get one though.

What if you just ask for no BBQ sauce?

I think the chicken tenders are the same as the ones McDonald’s served last year. They were spicy barbecue flavored, too. They’re not new, but they were good. I’m glad that they’re back.
No, these are much less sweet and a lot more spicy.
Then maybe they’ll pair better with ranch than the previous ones did.
