I ordered the pepperoni variety for lunch today. I must say that I’m disappointed. I’m usually the first in line for fast good gimmicks, especially pizza ones.
I was hoping these would resemble the p’zone in texture and assembly, but instead, the crust/pocket is very soft, with no chew. It does taste exactly like a cheez-it, though. The pockets are about 2″ square, and I got 6 in my order.
The interior is a weird melange of cheese goo that doesn’t quite resemble mozzarella in flavor or texture. It has no pull or chew.
The pepperoni are cut into tiny bits and distributed amongst the cheese goo.
Between the overwhelming cheddar flavor and the soft, non-existent texture, this was a big fail in my book.
Had the exact same experience today. I don’t think I’d buy them again.
Yes, no pull or chew. We all go to Pizza Hut for artisanal cheese.
I saw a photo that someone posted on Facebook whom works at Pizza Hut. Stated that it arrives frozen and just throwing in the oven. Such a shame. Concept is a fun one but the taste not so good.
did you really expect that they made these in their store?
Personally I prefer Cheese Nips.
Racist
It tastes exactly like a Cheez It. Weirdest thing–it’s like the pizza flavor is a nonentity. Maybe if they added a lot more in the way of cheese and pepperoni it wouldn’t just seem like a giant cracker. Nothing wrong with it. I was just expecting pizza + Cheez It rather than just Cheez It. The marinara sauce included with it was so watery I could’ve downed it like soup. If you try it, definitely go with ranch instead.
Cheese tasted like the stuffed crust cheese, as opposed to something that had been baked in the oven or mixed with spices (or whatever else they do in the cooking process). Cheez-it “shell” tasted reasonably cheesy, but I can’t really say it was a Cheez-It without the crunch. Still, it tasted good/fine for Pizza Hut expectations.
Would be interesting to see if you could “toast” these in the oven to get a bit of crunch on the Cheez-It. Might have to buy it again and risk burning down my home.
of course you could oven bake them at home; how do you think they cook them at restaurant?
