What are Rold Gold Recipe No. 4 Zesty Buffalo Pretzel Twists?
Recipe No. 4 is autumn’s inverse follow up to summer’s absolutely bangin’ Recipe No. 5. Rold Gold’s latest soft and slightly sweet braided pretzel twist gets a punchy makeover with a little help from zesty buffalo seasoning.
How are they?
These Buffalo-flavored pretzels are heavy on the tangy, zesty buttermilk, and relatively light on the spicy tingle I associate with the word “Buffalo.” They taste like a proper hot wing dunked in a very generous amount of ranch, with a lot less of the pretzel sweetness coming through than with the first incarnation of the “No.” line. Garlic and onion linger in the background of a surprisingly creamy and unsurprisingly salty snack that finishes with a touch of peppery heat.
Anything else you need to know?
I was absolutely in love with the No. 5 pretzels. No joke, I smashed eight bags over two months. I was addicted in a way I had never been addicted to a pretzel before, so I came into this review with pretty massive expectations. My expectations weren’t met, but that doesn’t make these bad. They’re actually well executed, but I would never in a million years pick them over my beautiful and precious No. 5.
Conclusion:
Does the arrival of No. 4 indicate Rold Gold will be counting backwards to eventually reach No. 1? Will No. 1 be the best? Since I found No. 5 to be better than No. 4, maybe they’ll get gradually worse until we reach the end. But I highly doubt that’s the case, and I will continue to have high hopes for this premium pretzel line.
As for numbers 1-3? Here are my suggestions/desires: cinnamon sugar, honey mustard, and spicy queso.

Were you the Sean that had their drop on Dougboys today? When worlds collide
haha yes that’s me! I make music under the name SESPOOL, love doughboys, and been a writer here for 4 years next month ???
Does anyone know where i could buy these?
If you live in the United States, I would guess you will be able to find them everywhere very soon. Frito Lay has extremely wide distribution. Not long after the No. 5 pretzels came out I saw them at many grocers and convenience stores in my town.
They don’t appear to be a limited time item, such as special flavors of Lays. Those I will snatch up as soon as I see them because I can never be sure i will see them again.
I often wonder if TIB would set up a swap of foods that are regional so those of us can buy and taste the items. I know, Amazon and other sites have many of the items, but at a ridiculously high price point. While I really want to try Lays Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup potato chips, I don’t want to $30 for the privilege. Heck, I would happily send a bag of these and other regional stuff (think Synder’s of Berlin, Fisher’s Kettle Corn, and Bergers Chocolate Iced Cookies) from DC/MD/PA to someone if they would, in turn, send me a care package of yummy stuff from their neck of the woods. Just a thought…..
Great idea!!! I would most certainly be on board!!!
I’m game 🙂
Gimmie a list and I’ll see if what I have in my town is anything special. I’m in Idaho if that matters…
Holly and Erin, let’s do it! Is there a way to swap email addresses without making them visible to the public?
Tried recipe no 4 today; I’m in love!
