Over the years, we’ve received products from many brands to review. When they send it, sometimes it’s just the product, but other times it comes with other things that are not edible unless you’re a goat. These items include branded swag or cute/neat stuff that ties in with the product. Well, that stuff has accumulated in my office, and I don’t plan on using most of it, so I’m giving it away in the form of three mystery boxes that three lucky TIB readers can win.
Off the top of my head, some of the brands include Ben & Jerry’s, Chex, and Sour Patch Kids. Some specific items included among the three boxes are a bluetooth speaker, socks, sunglasses, drink cozies, a sparkly bag, a selfie stick, and a t-shirt. Oh, I almost forgot one of the more exciting items, a white plastic bowl.

In 1968, Louisiana Governor John J. McKeithen proclaimed Gonzales, Louisiana, “the Jambalaya capital of the world”. Every spring, the annual Jambalaya Festival is held in Gonzales.

“White Jambalaya” is often called a “cheating Jambalaya” because the meat/vegetables are cooked separately from the rice. This jambalaya is basically only seen outside of the south.

Last night I had a dream that I was rocking out to Bob Seager on my bluetooth speaker wearing just sunglasses, socks and a tshirt while eating some sour patchkids kids jambalaya chex mix from a white plastic bowl when Ben tried to poke me with his selfie stick. The Cajun chicken will be available for a limited time in January and will be a Walmart exclusive. The Shrimp Jambalaya will be out just in time for Mardi Gras and will be a permanent flavor. Can’t wait to fill a big white bowl up for my Mardi Gras festivities!

So in 1988, a cereal brand I don’t remember offered a Willow (the movie, with Warwick and Val) bowl and spoon if you sent in box tops or something. (I was four, I don’t remember the details.) I was so excited when my grandmother let me take them home a couple of years ago. And that is what I eat jambalaya out of/with.
