SPOTTED: Hostess Kazbars

Here’s what the press release says about it, “…a first-of-its-kind candy-bar-inspired innovation within the snack cakes market. The new Hostess innovation combines layers of soft chocolate cake, crème, candy crunch and melt-in-your-mouth caramel or smooth chocolate fudge. The bars are covered in a rich chocolate-flavored coating and topped with a delightful drizzle for an afternoon treat the whole family will enjoy.” (Boxes spotted by Erin R at Jewel Osco. Individual bar spotted by Tommy at Walmart.)

If you’re out shopping and see new products, snap a picture of them, and send them in via an email (theimpulsivebuy@gmail.com) with where you found them and “Spotted” in the subject line. Also, if you want to send in photos and are wondering if we’ve already covered something or if they’re new, don’t worry about it. Let us worry about it.

  1. Had the caramel version, chocolate looks even better. I had very low expectations but it was surprisingly good. Great texture, crunchy outside but soft inside.

      1. These have been out for a little while but all the reviews have been good so far. I am not a cake person but applaud the texture/flavor combination.

  2. When I saw this, I immediately started singing in my head, “Shareef don’t like it, Rockin’ the Kazbars, rock the Kasbars.”

    1. Hehe. I feel sorry for people who don’t!

The name does make me wonder. Like is there someone at Hostess who just loooooooves the song more than an excessively reasonable amount and has been trying for ages to get them to call one of their products Kazbars and Hostess finally put their hands up and gave it to them? Most likely under the agreement that said person will stop with the incessant singing of Rock the Casbah?

    2. Oh oh oh! The other thing that just as predominantly pops into my mind is the Cingular Wireless commercial ” Rock the Catbox.”

  3. I had the caramel and was surprised at how much I enjoyed them. As far as prepackaged, mass-produced snack cakes go, this was a 10/10.

  4. Had the caramel and really enjoyed it! Has a bit of crunch in it – would prefer a bit more of the crunchy stuff though. Nice size and only 140 calories. The individually wrapped desserts satisfy my sweet tooth without feeling like I blew my diet or being able to overindulge. Will be buying again.
