QUICK REVIEW: Lean Cuisine Morning Collection Wild Blueberry & Pomegranate Oatmeal

Lean Cuisine Morning Collection Wild Blueberry & Pomegranate Oatmeal

Purchased Price: $3.49
Size: 2 pack
Purchased at: Target
Rating: 3 out of 10
Pros: Filling. Great…if you’re desperate. Makes a decent hand warmer. Warms my innards. Low fat. Contains ingredients I can easily pronounce.
Cons: Provides just 2 grams of fiber (competing products offer 5 grams and fast food oatmeal offers at least 5 grams). Blueberry flavor is too mild. Pomegranate flavor is non-existent. End result after following microwaving instructions looks like I melted Grimace. Not a very good way to start one’s morning.

  1. UGH! That looks nasty! Why they couldn’t have done pomegranate flavored oatmeal then blueberries on the side.

  2. I splurged and bought this oatmeal a month ago. The first bowl around I had a similarly gloopy experience.

    HOWEVER…

With the second bowl, I refrigerated it after microwaving, and lo and behold, the purple slop congealed into a very tasty, pudding-esque treat that made me regret throwing out the first batch.

Assuming it was on sale, I would definitely contemplate getting this again.

  3. I just throw a handful of frozen blueberries with a regular microwave oatmeal packet and milk. Takes like 90 sec, and I bet it’s cheaper.

    1. I bet it’s cheaper still to just measure out oats from a canister, and microwave those. Quick Oats take slightly less time than “Old-Fashioned” but both styles work, and I mean… the point is, it’s doable and it’s fast.

I like the frozen blueberries idea, though. You could probably also add pomegranate juice to taste, if you felt like it.

Pre-prepared microwave oatmeal is just pointless. And, apparently, not very good.
