Update: We reviewed it! Click here to read our McDonald’s Steakhouse Sirloin Third Pound Review.
According to Burger Business, McDonald’s will offer for a limited time a new trio of menu items called Sirloin Third Pound Burgers, which should not be confused with their discontinued Angus Third Pounders.
The burger line will feature a 1/3 lb sirloin patty, a sesame seed bun, something called “beef seasoning”, and will be available in three varieties. The Bacon & Cheese Sirloin Third Pound Burger features bacon, white cheddar, pickles, mustard, and ketchup. The Lettuce & Tomato one is topped with lettuce, tomato, red onions, white cheddar, pickles, mayo, and mustard. And the Steakhouse Sirloin Third Pound Burger will have grilled onions, sauteed mushrooms, white cheddar, and peppercorn sauce.
The new burger will be available later this month in some areas and nationwide on May 11. They will have a suggested price of $4.99.

I’ve missed the red onions at McDonalds. Glad they’re back.
They already have these in NYC. Had the Steakhouse version. It wasn’t all that bad. The bun and mushrooms were exactly the same as the ones found on the Angus. The onions added a nice sweetness. The peppercorn sauce also seemed to be slightly sweet, but mostly savory. I think the disappointment was the patty itself. Didn’t taste all too different from a quarter pounder. No where near the distinct taste that the Angus third pounder patties had.
I completely agree. The burger is also not worth $4.99 at all. Better off getting a couple of burgers/sandwiches from the dollar menu and still save a few bucks. Not sure why Mcdonalds is trying so hard, they will NEVER compete against fast food chains like Five Guys and Chipotle. If you are, then do it right.
This burger is NOT worth $5.79.
This shit is nasty as fuck! I just bought the sirloin steakhouse and it’s so bland, that I would’ve enjoyed a three day old flat warm soda over this. There is no differentiation in the tastes of the ingredients. waste of money and of my lunch break. It’s so bland that the sesame seeds on the bun stand out! Im dipping it in ketchup and ranch as we speak!!!
I love the Bacon & Cheese version! Best burger McDonald’s has produced in several years, in my opinion. The Sirloin was tasty, the White Cheddar creamy and the Bacon crisp and yummy.
I thought I would like the 1/3 pound with bacon and cheese, but the patty was tasteless. So, it inspired me to make some Angus burgers 1/3 – 1/2 pound each, smoke them and some Vidalia onions, add some Cajun and steak seasoning, some extra sharp cheddar and some smoked bacon and have a feast. Now, I have that craving satisfied, I will not be back to McDonald’s for their new burgers in the future.
