Boo whey protein… Anyways the pizza bagels are pretty good simply toasted with a bit of margarine, and their new party cake bagels aren’t bad either.
…why the booing of whey protein?
I boo’d because what I once thought was a vegan brand, now seems to be going in a different direction. Whey protein is unnecessary since many plant proteins perform just as well or better, and such products support what I consider to be an ethically unjust commercial dairy industry.
ever considered there could be people out there that prefer the taste of whey over soy? oO
Who said anything about soy? But yes there are some “super tasters” out there who are offended by flavors that a normal taster wouldn’t even be able to notice.
Sorry, no one specificly said soy.
it was my bad for assuming you complain about clif serving consumer needs by offering a whey product while still keep their range of vegan clif and builder bars (which all contain Soy Protein Isolate).
Now i know, you just complained about them trying to make a buck with the trend of whey products most probably based on a myth that it’s the more “complete protein”, and i have to admit… maybe not the most noble move, but imho understandable.
I also have to admit that never jumped on either the vegan and/or high protein bandwagon and eat stuff because it tastes good, not because it has 1g more protein or it has no ingredients in it, that’s made by animals.
Fortunately i like a lot of stuff, including vegan products and non vegeterian ones. So i won’t judge someone that decided to eat vegan, but otherwise won’t judge someone who likes to drink milk or eat a steak. Both “ways” have tasty products and recipes and i love eating them.
But i knwo people don’t like the taste of vegan or vegeterian substitutes/alternatives. Especially “Soy Milk” is something you have to like.
Since i also have to admit, that i never ate some of those high protein whey or soy products (since i don’t want to build up muscle or need a small snack that keeps me full for a long time) i assumed the “Soy Protein Isolate” has the distinctive soy taste. Apparently it hasn’t. Didn’t know that, so it’s my bad.
And as i said, i know where you were going with your comment and i go conform with you, that they just released the whey protein bars to get the money from the costumers who fell for the whey protein myth and they should rather clearify this “myth” than jump on it, but still: Who to blame xD
Yeah there can definitely be a lot of trial and error when it comes to veganism, but eventually you end up finding what you like. I trialed so many different veggie burgers that I don’t think that I ever want to eat another one ever again…well unless its the new “impossible burger”. Personally I do like soymilk on my cereal, and etc, but I wouldn’t want to drink it plain… Edensoy is a good brand. Luckily for me I’ve found my favorite food AFTER going vegan. I also eat and drink for the taste, its just that it has to be vegan nowadays for me. I am what you would call a “junk food vegan”, which is why I’ve been a long time follower of this and many other food blogs lol. Yeah I also am not on the high protein bandwagon. They say that as long as you are eating enough calories, you are also getting enough protein… Anyways if you happen to be interested in any new vegan products, be on the look out for “spotted by jarred” written under any upcoming spotted on shelves pictures… It is usually me. Most of my old submissions are back before I went vegan/vegetarian or back when I was only vegetarian and not vegan lol.
These pizza bagels were one of the worst bagels I’ve ever had. They smell really good, even though the packaging. They have absolutely no flavor at all. Even plain bagels were better than these! Epic fail.
