Burger King is testing a burger topped with Kraft Macaroni & Cheese. Impulsive Buy reader @Ethan_Anderton sent in the photo above of the Mac N’ Cheese King on the drive-thru menu board at his local Burger King in Indiana.
Here’s his experience with the burger:
A little over a week ago, I went to Burger King in my town of LaPorte, IN to try the Chicken Parmesan sandwich for lunch but then stumbled upon this burger which I hadn’t heard about and assumed it was brand new and hadn’t hit the advertising circuit yet.
Then this week I realized that I hadn’t seen anything about this burger on TV, in the coupon mailers that I didn’t ask for in my mailbox, or even online. A Google search for anything Mac N Cheese related with Burger King only turns up results about the Mac N Cheetos being brought back. That’s when I realized that this was likely something being tested at my local Burger King, something that I’ve never personally seen happen here. So I went back and snapped a picture of the menu to share here at The Impulsive Buy.
Anyway, I ordered it, and it’s pretty much just the Bacon King with Kraft Mac N Cheese, including the barbecue sauce. It is extremely filling and very messy, so much that you almost need a fork to eat it properly. Having said that, it’s one of the better fast food burgers I’ve had in a while and almost feels like something you’d get at Hardee’s/Carls Jr instead of Burger King.
I reached out to my local Burger King to see if they knew how much longer it would be around and how widespread the testing was. The employee there told me that most of the locations owned by Quality Dining, Inc. (based out of Mishawaka, Indiana) were testing it, and they have locations in Indiana, Michigan and Tampa, Florida. When I called Quality Dining about the product, the employee I spoke to said that she estimated somewhere between 20 and 25 locations were testing it, primarily around the South Bend, Indiana area, which is the Central, Northern Indiana close to the Michigan border. My Burger King locations (we have two that are both testing the burger) are about 35 minutes West of South Bend, so it seems to be pretty localized here in the Midwest for now.
If you’ve tried it or seen it in your area, let us know in the comments.
This needs to roll out nationally. I love mac & cheese on burgers.
I’ve seen burgers topped with mac n cheese before so ok i get it, but KRAFT MAC N CHEESE ???? I want to see them top one with Vienna sausages next
Yeah Matt… This just showcases lazyness on BK to produce something that could be extra special.
How great does that look! Hope it makes it to Ohio soon!
As long as it isn’t the mac & cheese used in the Mac & Cheetos. That was awful!
But, $6+ bucks for a mediocre BK burger? Really?
No thank you!
I am a chicken girl…. mostly grilled on my sandwiches I seriously don’t like burgers… that being said I ordered THREE of these in one week!!!!! OMG just yum. (And it’s more like a Stauffers red box Mac n cheese actually) part of me is screaming for its return (on the inside) the other part is wondering how bad quadruple bypasses actually hurt…… Because of it is a menu staple I will need one.
