When Snickers announced back in October that they would release three new varieties – “Intense Flavors,” I was intrigued. Salty & Sweet, Espresso, and Fiery sounded interesting. But that was crisp, cool autumn. Now it’s sweaty June, the Intense Flavors are here, and it seems like a curious move. Who wants melty chocolate all over their hot fingers? I’m guessing this release might have been timed to defeat the summer chocolate slump and tear us away from our ice cream cones. Could be a smart move – it got me on board at a time when I’d be more likely to reach for the freezer.
The Snickers Intense flavors packaging is a subtle shift from the usual Snickers wrapper – so subtle that in a bin of bars, I had to dig around to locate each flavor. They looked like a pile of the same product. But this similarity did effectively communicate one thing – these are essentially Snickers bars with flavors added.
Also, they’ve stuck with the “You’re Not You When You’re Hungry” themed logos. The Sweet & Salty bar says “Indecisive?” instead of “Snickers.” The Espresso says “Irritable?” and Fiery asks if you’re “Wimpy?” I hate this particular gimmick – the visual of all the different words offends my sense of graphic cohesion – so that definitely made me “Irritable.”
Snickers Intense flavors are slightly smaller than the basic Snickers. Now .04oz lighter doesn’t sound like much, but when I lined them up next to the Snick OG, it’s noticeable. The silver lining is that they’re 10 calories less than the original!
Aroma-wise, only the Snickers Espresso had a unique smell layered on top of the usual choco-nuttiness. The unmistakable scent of coffee.
Snickers Salty & Sweet tasted like a basic Snickers with a pinch of salt. That was the only difference I detected, but it was a welcome addition. It makes so much sense that I questioned for a hot second whether original Snickers had a salty kick all along. I had to go back and sample one to make sure. It may not be revolutionary, but it was delicious. Like a Snickers+.

Pros: What can’t be improved with a pinch of salt? Just make this the default Snickers flavor already.
Cons: It’s so right, it should have existed already…so not surprising at all.

Snickers Espresso was the biggest departure. Coffee isn’t a new or risky flavor these days, but it’s done well here. The espresso was richer than the usual coffee flavor products. It was present from the first bite but didn’t smother the original Snickers combo that I love. This was my favorite of the three and I would definitely buy it again.

Pros: Great espresso flavor that works well with the basic Snickers formula.
Cons: Makes me ashamed of how much I hate coffee (the drink).

Snickers Fiery was disappointing. It felt like ages until the chili pepper heat hit me. I’d finished chewing and started swallowing when the back of my throat lit up and stayed that way for longer than I’d have liked. The heat level was about 3, which is fine for me, but it felt out of place. It didn’t have the fun flavor whiplash of the Skittles and Starburst Sweet Heat candies. Fiery is great for people who love low-level peppers that stick around like unwelcome houseguests.

Pros: I ate it, so I must not be wimpy, as the logo implies.
Cons: Implying I’m wimpy. Heat that shows up to the party late, then refuses to leave – even after you’ve turned the music off and yawned loudly.

I love the almond ones but at $1.25 each i’ll pass. Maybe that’s why i haven’t had in years.
Which is your favorite?
I’m surprised these got such high reviews, I personally wasn’t that impressed. That is, until I put them in the freezer! It makes them taste like a heath bar, and what could be better than a coffee flavored Heath bar?
I love the fiery Snicker it is like my mouth has a little Fiesta of fire and sweet and caramel dance around at the same time I couldn’t ask for more in a candy bar .thanks for trying out something new so that I can be able to taste the new sriracha as I would say in my sneakers if you guys want to send me some I would love it.
I just went from GA to the U.P. in MI. Checked every Walmart, grocery store, gas station, CVS, Walgreens. 1100 miles of travel and can’t find a single bar. Is this a hoax being put on by Mars? Usually you spend that kind of money on commercials and you flood the stores with them.
Hey, I couldn’t find them for a while either but just last night, I finally found what appeared to be a new very full display of these candy bars at my local Walmart at the beginning of the self check out section. Maybe they just haven’t arrived yet? Before this, I had checked a number of places and found nothing but regular, almond, and hazelnut. (I bought a hazelnut one though)
I’m in Arizona haven’t seen the Espresso yet
Still no Espresso yet in northern California, just found fiery at a 7-11. Not Lucky’s, not Safeway, not CVS pharmacy..but eyes wide looking for the espresso hookup. lol
I’m in Northern Virginia my local Wal-mart had all 3 new flavors. I went with the Espresso since I thought Id be a nice wake me up treat during my 12.5hr night shifts. It has a nice, not too over whelming taste; though I find it hard to say if its the espresso flavored nougat, the sugar, or the chocolate that’s actually keeping me up. Yes Id purchase this treat again.
I love the sweet and salty!! I hope they keep
It around forever! I didn’t love the espresso, but it was ok. I didn’t taste much coffee flavor, but it does taste a bit like coconut to me. I probably won’t even try the Fiery, doesn’t sound good to me.
Cannot find Espresso Snickers anywhere in Longview, Tx. Could order online, but in 95 degree heat, yhdy would be ruined on arrival. Very disappointed.
I LOVE the Expresso one and like the Fiery one as well. Not wild about sweet and salty but am hoping the first two become a regular offering.
Didn’t know about the new flavors and accidentally bought a bag of the fiery minis. Some people might like them but we haven’t been even able to give them away. My husband likes the snickers minis for an afternoon snack and he also like hot peppers, but the two together just don’t mix. Will definitely check the bag next time I buy his snicker snacks. Guess the bag of fiery minis will just be going out with the trash this week!!! Awful would not recommend them to anyone!!!!
I was given a few of the Snickers Firey at a function and unknowingly just popped it into my mouth (it was a bite sized one)…as soon as it hit the back of my throat, I couldn’t breathe! I have never had an allergic reaction to foods, but this time I thought I was going to end up in ER!
Now my throat feels sore, thick and still feels swollen!
I will NEVER eat another Firey Snickers again! Had I known what they were, I would’ve left them behind!
I just tried an espresso bar and it was terrible. One of the worst candy bars I’ve ever had that have chocolate. I actually love Snickers too. It’s like a cup of bad coffee (I drink espresso daily). Too top it off, it’s a genetically engineered candy bar. Oh boy.
Snickers fiery is horrible wow never even knew that existed and I loveeeeee snickers.
I agree, it’s just awful. No one will eat them, I made the mistake of buying a bag of the snack size. I was hoping it was assorted flavors but no, all Wimpy and awful.
I loved the espresso and the wimpy. I do think the wimpy could use more heat. Thought sweet and salty tasted just like regular. I just wish they were stocked all the time.
