Arby’s is testing a Beer Can Chicken Sandwich in a few locations across the country. If you live in Minneapolis, Augusta, and Tulsa, you can wrap your mouth around the sandwich until December 23. Reader Chris W from Minnesota sent in the photo above.
According to an Arby’s spokesperson who talked to Food & Wine, the sandwich comes in two versions. The Original Beer Can Chicken Sandwich features Miller High Life marinated smoked chicken with cheddar cheese, crispy onions, pepper bacon, lettuce, tomato, and garlic aioli on a toasted specialty roll. A Tall Boy Sandwich version includes everything mentioned, but also has pit-smoked ham and a crispy chicken fillet.
If you’re not familiar with beer can chicken, it involves stuffing an open beer can into the cavity of a chicken. The can is used to stand the poultry up while it cooks on the grill or in an oven. The beer steams in the cavity, giving the meat moisture and beer flavor.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen beer can chicken on a fast food menu. Popeyes put out its own back in 2014.
