What is Hershey’s Kisses Cereal?
General Mills and Hershey’s have joined forces to bring the Hershey’s Kiss to your breakfast table with Hershey’s Kisses Cereal: chocolate-flavored corn puff pieces shaped like the classic candy.
How is it?
Half of the fun of candy- or dessert-inspired cereals is discovering how closely the it physically resembles the original product. While Hershey’s Kisses Cereal does not precisely replicate its namesake, its appearance is clearly inspired by Hershey’s Kisses: its dime-sized pieces are shaped like triangles with flat sides and smoothed edges.
Most of the pieces boast a droopy, rounded stem in place of the candy’s signature pointed tip, so whether you perceive the cereal as tiny Hershey’s Kisses or something else is a matter for Rorschach. (To me, they resemble the poop emoji. I’m sorry, but it had to be said, and I promise not to bring it up again.)
Anyway, a chocolate cereal by any other shape would be just as sweet, which Hershey’s Kisses Cereal definitely is. It tastes very similar to Cocoa Puffs, with its cocoa powder sweetness and crunchy texture. It took a few bites to discern a difference, but I tasted just a hint more richness with this.
Adding milk enhances the dry cocoa flavor to something closer to milk chocolate. With only one or two stirs, the milk begins to turn brown, and with more time (or if you are like me, impatient agitation), a rich, thick chocolate milk appears.
Although I haven’t broken out my crazy straw in a couple of decades, the cereal milk did remind me of using Hershey’s syrup to make chocolate milk, as visible chocolate swirls move throughout the milk and streak the sides and bottom of the bowl. As this transformation occurs, the cereal retains its taste and texture. Although this is a solid chocolate cereal when eaten dry, I highly recommend adding milk for the full chocolate-y effect.
Is there anything else you need to know?
In a blind taste test, I could not have pinpointed the Hershey’s association, but the list of ingredients does include Hershey’s Cocoa Processed with Alkali as the brand’s contribution.
Conclusion:
Although comparable to many chocolate cereals on the shelves, Hershey’s Kisses Cereal is enjoyable and, with milk, will give you two chocolate treats for the price of one.

They should had added pieces of the actual candy and wrap in a special foil box to tie in the kisses concept.
Looks like poop.
I suppose the “droopy, rounded stem” mentioned by the reviewer is the attempt to duplicate the shape of a wrapped Hershey’s kiss, but without the narrow strip of paper sticking out. Not worth the effort, IMO, since the cereal pieces attempt to match the color of the unwrapped kiss. They should have tried to duplicate the color and shape of a wrapped kiss, or the color and shape of an unwrapped kiss, not one of each.
These are the closest to looking like dog food I’ve seen yet in cereal.
or dog poop.
It definitely tasted more “Hershey” than any other chocolate cereal I’ve tried, but that doesn’t mean it really impressed me.
This would have sold a lot better under poop emoji marketing.
I’m extremely disappointed in this cereal. I’ve been eating “Kashi Dark Cocoa Karma” cereal for years, until it disappeared in the stores. To order it online, became extremely expensive. I heard about the Kisses cereal, and thought it would be a good replacement. This is one of the worse tasting products ever! The first time eating it, I immediately noticed a strange after taste, and had a very artificial chocolate flavor, nothing like real Hersey kisses. I was not impressed, but decided to try it again the following morning. I keep my cereals in Ziplock freezer bags. When I opened the kitchen cabinet, it smelled up the entire cabinet right through the sealed bag. I finally ate one spoonful, and once you get that artificial flavor and aftertaste in your mouth, game over. The rest of the box went into the garbage!
I Just tried this. TASTELESS! Ugh! I love Hershey’s KISSES and there is zero point zero connection to this brand. Probably one of the worst cereals I’ve never tasted. Extremely bland. Disappointed!
Will not recommend nor buy again.
Approved by the American Dental Association and the American Diabetes Association. Great way for your kids to get a jump start on their day as well as future medical issues.
Tastes awful! No chocolate taste at all. I expected better from Hershey’s.
Sorry…
They “suck”…a waste of money..the cereal is water down version of cocoa puffs..after two bites (the second one was to make sure) I tossed the box in the trash…
One of the worst cereals I have ever had. You cannot even taste the chocolate flavor. They are hard as a rock with the chance of breaking a tooth. If you want a Hershey kiss just buy some and not this cereal. Shame on Hershey for allowing their name put on this product. If you like chocolate flavored cereal buy Cocco Pebbles.
I bought these as it appears to contain no gluten (I’m allergic) but can anyone confirm that? Haven’t tried them yet, but a bit leery.
