Update: We tried it! Click here to read our review.
Sonic Drive-In has added two limited time only shake flavors to its dessert lineup — Brownie Batter and Yellow Cake Batter.
The former is a new offering that combines vanilla ice cream with, according to Sonic, “a rich, chocolate brownie batter.” The latter is a returning flavor that made its debut last year. It features vanilla ice cream mixed with yellow cake batter.
Both shakes are available from now until August 2.

I’ve tried the yellow cake batter shake last year and it was way tooooo sweet . I don’t know if they didn’t mix it properly but my shake was missing something- maybe more cake flavor. It had more of a vanilla flavor than authentic cake flavor (like Cold Stone’s cake batter flavor). However I don’t know if it tastes different from last year, but I will not be getting it again.
I don’t live in the US, but one of my best friends does, and I often refer him to new posts on this site so he can try things out and let me know if it’s a hit or miss. Tonight he tried out the Brownie Batter Shake, and he loved it, saying that “it has huge brownie flavor with brownie pieces and chocolate chips”. This one’s a hit in his book.
