What are Arby’s Crinkle Cut Fries?
Arby’s new permanent fries are exactly as they sound — an “…accordion-style” deep-fried spud offering! The website touts the “…groves for maximum crispiness, lightly seasoned with fine kosher salt.”
(Editor’s Note: I’m pretty sure “groves” is supposed to be “grooves.” But that’s really how it’s spelled on Arby’s website. I added the screenshot below for proof.)
How are they?
Crinkle cut fries are near and dear to my heart. They remind me of elementary school lunches when the best part of my day was lunchtime. These were exactly like a blast from the past – limp, slightly undercooked, but decently salted.
Anything else you need to know?
I tested these head-to-head with crinkle cut fries from the grocery store. The air fried Ore-Ida ones I made were better. They were golden brown and actually had more crispness.
Unfortunately, Arby’s is pretty serious about its mediocre crinkle cut fry offering. The fast food chain even made a TV commercial for it!
Conclusion:
I ate every single one of those limp, slightly undercooked, but decently salted fries, but they’re not better than frozen crinkle cut fries found at your local grocery store.
Maybe one day Arby’s will offer a mixed spuds basket with its curlies, crinkle, and cakes – kind of like mixing all the sodas together. But I wouldn’t get the crinkle fries on their own. I’ll stick with the curlies!

Meh, they just need to bring back the homestyle fries.
Oh! And the onion petals too, while they’re at it.
You can still get them in breakfast combos; maybe ask during lunch/dinner hours? They’re on premises if breakfast is being served there, can guarantee that.
? Huh?
i suckered into trying them…only was a buck for the small. i realize they are just frz crinkle cut fries but i envisioned them being cooked properly…crispy brown like the tater tots/mexi fries at Taco Time. my crinkles were very pale and undercooked. very undercooked. it was a buck too much.
go to ur local restuarant bar and get their fries…. season as u wish ovr some chili or somethng… their curly fries r much greasier so not to bad though i dont care for arbys anyhoos…..plp r to into earting ahytihng and not having common sense.. even morw with this bs pandemic.
You need to learn English. This was incoherent.
Not everybody speaks English as their first language and what they said wasn’t too difficult to understand. Using “r” as “are”, misspelling “more” as “morw” etc. is hardly offensive. Please try to be less needlessly rude.
The comment screams of Rachel. I second the notion to be kind, we are all having fun here.
Well….all but one.
They do look disappointingly…anemic…yes.
That was my immediate thought as well. Did they just vastly undercook these, or is it impossible to cook these enough, due to the shape?
All French Fries are possible to cook. Just need time.
Thankfully mine were alright when I had them last week. I’m just glad they have them since I’ve never really liked curly fries.
For me, Del Taco has the best crinkle-cut fries. The only reason I still went to Arby’s was for the curly fries.
Ha! 40 years ago when I worked there, we used to combine all the potato things with various available sauces and cheeses. Kind of an old fashioned poutine if you will. Fries, cakes, sauce, cheese, still a winner today.
Mine were cooked perfectly and tasted fine but I was expecting them to have different seasonings. They were regular crinkle fries so I was disappointed.
Maybe I’m in the minority but I had them recently and they were very crispy on the outside and soft inside. Yea they didn’t have any special flavoring but I wasn’t expecting that. The $1 small was a generous serving and I got two for $2 and it was way more than enough. Either I got lucky or you had a really bad experience. I’ll be back.
Your hack at the end. Curlies, crinkles, and cakes – lol. Add a little cheese sauce and other condiment of choice. Only a previous employee can dream up the concoctions.
Bring back the potatoe cakes?? Those crinkled fries are soggy and gross ?
