I don’t have an air-fryer, and admittedly know zilch about them…but am still surprised to see that there are vegetables (and perhaps other kinds of food) *specifically* designed to be made in them. Odd, to me.
An air fryer is essentially a convection oven, so it heats things up more quickly and you usually don’t have to preheat them (at least mine you don’t). I like using it when I want to cook small amounts of food quickly and get it crispier. I am intrigued by the okra. I love okra, so I might try that.
They’re capitalizing off of the people who don’t realize that they can cook any kind of frozen veg in the air fryer and will buy these simply because they say air fryer on the bag versus spending (probably) less on “regular” frozen veg…at least that’s how I feel about them… 🙂
I tried the hot honey chicken and pepper jack mac and cheese… the chicken pieces are the same as their sweet and sour chicken and fried rice entree (a bit spongy and tasteless), but I prefer the sauce they’re swimming in quite a bit more. Nearly as sweet but with a decent kick, too. The Pepper jack mac is a vast improvement over their usual cheddar-based mac (like with their Salisbury steak), very rich and creamy which doesn’t apply to their cousin at all. I’ll likely buy it again almost entirely on the strength of the pepper jack mac side of the meal.
