SPOTTED ON SHELVES – 10/17/2012

Here are some new products found on store shelves by us and your fellow readers. We may or may not review them, but we’d like to let you know what new items are popping up. We’ll also occasionally throw in an unusual product.

CPK Frozen Jamaican Jerk Chicken

Hey, mon! Do you like your frozen pizza topped with a spicy and sweet sauce, Jamaican jerk-style chicken, mozzarella cheese, roasted bell peppers, onions, and scallions? If so, CPK has a limited edition pizza for you to eat after skankin’ to some Eek-A-Mouse. BIG UP!

Delimax Tostizzas

Ugh! Tostizzas! I thought Taco Bell was the only company that made Tex-Mex products with names that have the ability to make Microsoft Word’s spellcheck cry.

Folgers Fresh Breaks

The best part of waking up is knowing there’s an extremely quick and easy way to make a single serving of Folgers coffee in your cup!

New Pace Salsas

New Pace Dips

I find it a little weird Mexican restaurants have homemade salsa, but Pace has restaurant-style salsas. Is that Pace’s way of saying they have homemade salsas? I am confused.

Wasabi Mayonnaise

What!?! Only now I learn there’s a lazier way to get wasabi mayonnaise. I wasted years of my life trying to discover the right wasabi and mayonnaise ratio. Why must you torment me, wasabi gods?

SPOTTED ON SHELVES – 10/15/2012

Here are some pumpkin spice/Halloween products found on store shelves by us and your fellow readers.

Country Crock Pumpkin Spice

Hey, Pumpkin Spice Country Crock tub, your contents are not only great on muffins, sweet potatoes and yams, but I imagine they would also be awesome on pumpkin spice bread and pumpkin spice waffles. (Thanks for the photo, Anna!)

Pumpkin SpiceMallows

If I stab a stick through these pumpkin spice flavored marshmallows and then toast them over an open fire, will they make the air smell like pumpkin pie?

Chips Ahoy Halloween

Chips Ahoy Halloween have to be the least scariest cookies ever. They should revamp the cookie with a zombie green cookie and blood red chocolate chips. Or maybe they should be like these Chewy Gooey Chips Ahoy with a gooey blood red chocolate middle, blood red chocolate chips, and brain colored cookie.

White Chocolate Candy Corn M&Ms

I’m eating White Chocolate Candy Corn M&M’s while I typing this. But I’m only eating the white ones because the keys on my keyboard are white and I’m afraid if I eat the orange or yellow ones, they’ll stain the keys. These are very good, but, thankfully, don’t taste like candy corn.

Here are some new products found on store shelves by us and your fellow readers. We may or may not review them, but we’d like to let you know what new items are popping up. We’ll also occasionally throw in an unusual product.

Taco Bell Bottled Sauces

I guess Taco Bell didn’t want to bottle their regular Mild, Hot, and Fire sauces because they know every regular Taco Bell eater has a stockpile of those packets somewhere. I swear every Taco Bell I’ve gone to has given me a handful of sauce packets, which ends up being twice as many as I need. (Thank you for the picture, Peter!)

Milano Slices

Pepperidge Farm Milano Slices are available in Sweet Toffee, Crunchy Almond, and Salted Pretzel. But it would’ve been super meta if they also had a Crumbled Milano variety. (Thanks for the photo, Kenneth!)

Betty Crocker White Chip Macadamia Nut Cookie Mix

Homemade cookies in 20 minutes? Well, I’m a guy, which means I don’t read instructions. So, for me, ruined cookies in 20 minutes is a lot more accurate.

Method Fabric Softener Spray

Ditch the dryer sheet! Forget the dryer sheet! Down with the dryer sheet! Let’s get that dryer sheet! Burn the dryer sheet! Murder the dryer sheet!

We reviewed the Penne Pasta in Alfredo sauce variety, but as you can see there are more. And now, here are some rap lyrics. Give me a sister, I can’t resist her. Red beans and rice didn’t miss her. Sorry, thanks to the top photo, I had to quote Sir Mix-a-Lot. (Thanks for the pics, Troy!)

NEWS: Oberto Jerks on the Chain That Is Pulling the Bacon Bandwagon Forward With Their Upcoming Bacon Jerky

According to the Candy and Snack Today blog, sausage and chewy meat maker Oberto will start selling bacon jerky early next year. The company introduced the new product at the recent National Association of Convenient Stores Show, which sounds like the Super Bowl for junk food reviewers like myself.

Oberto isn’t the first company to produce bacon jerky, many companies have beat them to it, but they will be the biggest jerky company to offer it. The Candy and Snack Today post reports Oberto’s bacon jerky will be made using real bacon, contain no preservatives, and have 20 percent less fat than pan-fried bacon.

Well, I guess late to the bacon party is better than never. Although, pigs probably disagree with that.

Herr's Deep Dish Pizza

We don’t have Herr’s snacks here on this rock in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, but I hear they’re really good at replicating junk food flavors in their junk food. If only these Herr’s Deep Dish Pizza Flavored Cheese Curls could imitate the messiness of a deep dish pizza, forcing me to eat them with a fork. Dave’s Cupboard reviewed these cheese curls. (Thanks for the photos, Adam!)

Fun da-middles Cookies and Cream

Betty Crocker has a new Fun Da-Middles flavor for me to not bake. (Thanks for the photos, Kenneth!)

Prego Bacon & Provolone

Ugh. Enough with the provolone. It’s in our sandwiches and lasagnas. And it’s on top of our pizzas and salads. I’m getting sick of seeing provolone everywhere. Let’s stop with our fascination with provolone. (Thanks for the photos, Lauren!)

Confetti Cupcake Pop-Tarts

I’ll bet you a box of Pop-Tarts that these new Confetti Cupcake Pop-Tarts taste exactly like these Confetti Cake Pop-Tarts.

Coppertone Sport Duraflex

Maybe it’s just me, but Duraflex really sounds more like a condom feature than a spray-on sunscreen feature.
