NEWS: Blue Bunny Partners With Duff Goldman To Make Ice Cream That’s As Smooth As His Head

Charm City Cakes

Thanks to Duff Goldman’s Charm City Cakes, I found out it’s possible for someone to create a cake that replicates the scene in The Empire Strikes Back where a Rebel Alliance Snowspeeder takes down an Imperial AT-AT Walker with its harpoon and tow cable. However, I don’t know if it’s possible to convince my future wife that this cake would make an awesome wedding cake if I was on my hands and knees pretending to be the AT-AT and she’s the Snowspeeder wrapping her ball and chain around my hands and legs.

Anyhoo, ever since Ace of Cakes stopped producing new episodes, I’ve needed a Duff Goldman fix. Thankfully, Blue Bunny is going to give it to me in the form of new ice cream flavors inspired by Duff’s cake baking skills. Although, just his cake baking skills and not the skills to form an AT-AT from cake and fondant.

Duff Goldman’s line of Blue Bunny Premium Ice Cream comes in four cakey varieties:

Chocolate Lovers Triple Chocolate Cake – Chocolate ice cream with fudge chocolate cake pieces with ribbons of thich, chocolate frosting. (190 calories, 10 grams of fat, 5 grams of saturated fat, 25 grams of carbohydrates, and 19 grams of sugar per 1/2 cup serving.)

I Do! I Do! Wedding Cake – Sweet buttercream frosting-flavored ice cream and white cake pieces with ribbons of raspberry sauce. (150 calories, 7 grams of fat, 4 grams of saturated fat, 19 grams of carbohydrates, and 16 grams of sugar per 1/2 cup serving.)

Red Carpet Velvet Cake – Red velvet cake-flavored ice cream with cream cheese frosting-flavored ice cream and red velvet cake pieces. (150 calories, 7 grams of fat, 4 grams of saturated fat, 19 grams of carbohydrates, and 15 grams of sugar per 1/2 cup serving.)

Strawberries are Forever Shortcake – Strawberry ice cream and real strawberries mixed with pound cake pieces and swirls of whip cream frosting. (160 calories, 6 grams of fat, 4 grams of saturated fat, 24 grams of carbohydrates, and 17 grams of sugar per 1/2 cup serving.)

All flavors are available in 1.75 quart containers at grocery stores nationwide and have a suggested retail price of $4.99 each.

NEWS: California Pizza Kitchen’s Pizza & Appetizer Lets Your Oven Pretend It’s A CPK Wood-Burning Oven

Update: Click here for our California Pizza Kitchen Pizza & Appetizer review

During a recent grocery trip to Safeway, I spotted this box of California Pizza Kitchen’s Pizza & Appetizers in the freezer aisle. I could only find the sicilian pizza with spinach artichoke dip variety, but there could be others. If you’ve seen other varieties, let us know in the comments.

This combination is similar to the DiGiorno Pizza & Cookies and Pizza & Wyngz that came out earlier this year.

I really hope there are other varieties, because I’m not a huge fan of CPK’s sicilian pizza. But I do enjoy their Spinach Artichoke Dip, which is possibly the unhealthiest way I can become strong to the finich, cause I eats me spinach. Actually, I can’t think of any other appetizer CPK offers, since I always order the dip, which comes with tortilla chips and not the flatbread wedges that come with the CPK Pizza & Appetizer kit.

NEWS: Goldfish Sandwich Bread Totally Freaks Me Out

Why do Goldfish crackers smile?

I’ve always wondered this because their smiles freaks me out as much as clowns do.

They have no reason to smile, because I’m going to crush their fragile cracker bodies with my teeth, then let their mangled, saliva soaked bodies travel through my digestive system, and then I’m going to poop them out of my body. How can a Goldfish smile knowing that fate?

So if tiny smiling Goldfish crackers freak me out, I believe I’ll have nightmares forever if I come face to face with the new Pepperidge Farms Goldfish Sandwich Bread. Yes, bread shaped like smiling Goldfish crackers.

They’ve been available for several weeks and come in packs of eight in either white or whole wheat. The freaky crust-free bread has 120 calories, 3 gram of fiber, and 18 grams of whole grains per serving. They also don’t contain high fructose corn syrup. Pepperidge Farms Goldfish Sandwich Bread has a suggested retail price of $3.49.

NEWS: Lay’s Introduces Three New Regional Potato Chip Flavors and Two New All Over Kettle Cooked Flavors

I’m not sure I understand the reasoning behind Lay’s regional potato chips flavors, which are special flavors that represent the region and are only sold in the region. Why not share them with the rest of the nation? I’m pretty sure no one will be upset if someone outside of their region got to try their region’s chip. It’s as if Lay’s wants to leave money on the table.

As an impulsive person, and someone who runs a blog called The Impulsive Buy, I would buy all three new Lay’s regional flavors, and I’m sure many other impulsive people would too. If I only get one flavor I’m going to buy only one. It’s simple math. You can either get my money for one bag or you can get my money for three bags. As a company that has to report to shareholders, I’m pretty sure me buying three bags instead of one would sound much better to them.

So what are the three new Lay’s regional flavors I can’t buy all at one time?

The Northeastern U.S. will get Lay’s Honey Mustard, a tangy mustard combined with a little bit of honey. Midwesterners will get Lay’s Creamy Garden Ranch, a mixture of sour cream with spices and cucumbers. Those in the Southwestern part of the U.S. will get Lay’s Chipotle Ranch, a combination of sour cream, buttermilk ranch, chipotle spice, and green chilies.

Man, that Lay’s Chipotle Ranch does sound good. But, awww, I won’t be able to try it and stuff Lay’s pockets with money because I don’t live in the Southwestern part of the United States. Awww, shucks.

A one-ounce serving of Lay’s Honey Mustard has 160 calories, 10 grams of fat, 1 gram of saturated fat, 80 milligrams of sodium, and 16 grams of carbohydrates. A serving of Lay’s Creamy Garden Ranch has 160 calories, 10 grams of fat, 1 gram of saturated fat, 160 milligrams of sodium, and 15 grams of carbohydrates. Lay’s Chipotle Ranch has 160 calories, 10 grams of fat, 1 gram of saturated fat, 170 milligrams of sodium, and 15 grams of carbohydrates.

While I won’t be able to try all of Lay’s new regional flavors, I will have the chance to taste the two new Lay’s Kettle Cooked flavors — Creamy Mediterranean Herb and Spicy Cayenne & Cheese — since both flavors are available nationwide.

An ounce of Lay’s Kettle Cooked Creamy Mediterranean Herb has 150 calories, 9 grams of fat, 1 gram of saturated fat, 140 milligrams of sodium, and 16 grams of carbohydrates. Lay’s Kettle Cooked Spicy Cayenne & Cheese has 150 calories, 9 grams of fat, 1 gram of saturated fat, 140 milligrams of sodium, and 16 grams of carbohydrates.

NEWS: New Target-Exclusive Ben & Jerry’s Flavors Promote Volunteerism, But Will Also Promote Weight Gain

Target sign - Store #1

Update: Click here to read our Ben & Jerry’s Peanut Butter World and Ben & Jerry’s Volun-Tiramisu review

Volunteering. It’s something we should all do.

For example, I help little old ladies cross the street, and if they don’t give me a monetary tip when I hold out my hand and let out a hearty AHEM after getting them to the other side of the street, I write it off as me volunteering my time and services to help the elderly.

Target and Ben & Jerry’s are doing their part to promote volunteerism by introducing two new Target-exclusive Ben & Jerry’s flavors, Volun-Tiramisu and Peanut Butter World. These flavors join last year’s exclusive flavors, Berry Voluntary and Brownie Chew Gooder.

Volun-Tiramisu consists of coffee mascarpone ice cream with cocoa dusted coffee rum lady finger pieces. While Peanut Butter World is made with milk chocolate ice cream with peanut butter swirls and chocolate cookie swirls.

The new flavors began showing up at Target store this month, which is fitting since April is National Volunteer Month. If you’d like to find volunteer opportunities in your area, you can visit Volunteer Match or you can help little old ladies cross the street and see if they’ll give you a tip.
