QUICK REVIEW: Old El Paso Chicken Burritos Frozen Entree

Old El Paso Meal for Two Chicken Burritos

Purchased Price: $6.99 (on sale)
Size: 2 burritos/20 oz.
Purchased at: Safeway
Rating: 5 out of 10
Pros: Decent sized frozen burritos (6″ x 2.5″ x 1.5″). Lots of beans, rice, and corn. Salsa verde has a very mild kick and decent flavor. Each burrito is prepared in its own nifty steaming bag. Thank goodness for hot sauce.
Cons: Tastes like other frozen burritos I’ve had. Pricey for two decent-sized burritos. After microwaving, the tortilla on the bottom of the burrito is dried out and tough. Not a lot of chicken (I’m lucky a chunk ended up in the picture below). Didn’t notice any cheese. Most bites were beans and rice. Some Pace salsa would’ve made it taste better.

QUICK REVIEW: California Pizza Kitchen Limited Edition Greek Recipe Crispy Thin Crust Pizza

California Pizza Kitchen Limited Edition Greek Recipe Crispy Thin Crust Pizza

Purchased Price: $5.99 (on sale)
Size: 14.3 oz.
Purchased at: Safeway
Rating: 5 out of 10
Pros: Wonderful crispy crust. Preservative-free crust. Lots of veggies, especially olives and tomatoes. If you don’t eat meat, you may like this pizza. Decent source of vitamin A and calcium. Ready in 12 quick minutes.
Cons: ALL I CAN TASTE AND SMELL ARE OLIVES!!! (Okay, occasionally, I could taste parmesan, spinach, and a little bit of garlic.) Tomatoes give the pizza a juicy texture. Red onions were flavorless. Didn’t notice the tzatziki sauce. Some lamb might’ve been nice. A serving is a third of the pizza…who’s going to cut a pizza into an odd number of slices? I suck at fractions.

QUICK REVIEW: Marie Callender’s Mini Carrot Cakes

Marie Callender's Mini Carrot Cakes

Purchased Price: $2.50
Size: Two cakes
Purchased at: Market Basket
Rating: 7 out of 10
Pros: Definitely better thawed than microwaved. Gentle carrot cake smell and fairly complex flavor. Sweet icing and fun spongy texture. Occasional carrot shreds. Less saturated fat than the Marie Callender’s Chocolate Satin Mini Pies
Cons: The size of a small cupcake. Unexpected walnuts that I mistook for raisins on first glance. Frosting might slide off during heating. Heating leads to inconsistent temperature. Less filling when heated. Having to wait for it to thaw for a better experience. Strange yellow chunk of… carrot?

QUICK REVIEW: Weight Watchers Smart Ones Classic Favorites Spicy Black Bean Soup

Weight Watchers Smart Ones Classic Favorites Spicy Black Bean Soup

Purchased Price: $2.49
Size: 8 oz.
Purchased at: Target
Rating: 7 out of 10
Pros: Nice savory and smoky flavor. Pleasant mild spiciness. Cilantro and lime have a very mild flavor and complement the spiciness well. I can pronounce most of the ingredients listed. Only 170 calories. Vegetarian. Good source of fiber; thanks black beans! Awesome source of vitamin A; thanks…corn? 4 PointsPlus.
Cons: I wish it had more black beans because I loves the fiber. Not as filling as this Smart Ones soup. Waiting 5 minutes for soup seems a bit long when you want something warm in your body. Fire roasted corn looked like regular corn.

QUICK REVIEW: Jimmy Dean Delights Garden Blend Breakfast Bowl

Jimmy Dean Delights Garden Blend Breakfast Bowl

Purchased Price: $3.00
Size: 7 oz.
Purchased at: Safeway
Rating: 7 out of 10
Pros: As much as I hate the distribution of the cheese in my bowl, its flavor helped this entree from being extremely boring. Potatoes were soft and seasoned nicely. Decent amount of veggies. Nice balanced flavor; I could taste every ingredient. Egg whites provide a lot of protein.
Cons: Egg whites look like they saw a ghost and had Michael Jackson’s skin abnormality. Cheese loves sticking to the bottom of the bowl and to forks. Cheese came in clumps. It’s weird eating a Jimmy Dean product without any meat in it.
